Forms

Traditional forms bring much to the “art” in martial art.  While sparring and other drills may work to develop reflexes and economical movement, a form enhances students’ ability to focus their entire mind and body on a specific movement.

Utilizing power generated through the coordinated movement of the entire body, each move in the form should represent the maximum amount of power a student can generate in a particular physical movement while still maintaining complete body control.

             Tournaments

Enhancing  mental focus a student attempts to perpetually enhance the level of detail and body control in even the most basic movement.

Although some martial arts or martial systems do not utilize traditional forms, they can be a great asset to enhancing a students overall self-improvement as an addition to their ability to defend themselves.

In practicing a traditional form a student attempts to be aware of every part of his body from the direction of his eyes to the turn of his back foot.

Forms provide a another opportunity for students to challenge themselves in preparation for competitions.

Kicks and hand strikes practiced only in controlled contact sparring may often deteriorate in quality and power if not balanced by regular forms and target training.
